Bendigo Croquet Club
Bendigo Croquet Club
When
Winter playing times have commenced
During winter months play starts at 1PM on Monday and Wednesday, and 10am on Saturday. Please arrive at least 15 minutes early to allow games to be set up and to assist with dropping the hoops in.
We play Golf Croquet on club playing days and are a member of Goldfields Regional Association. We welcome players from other clubs to join us whenever they visit Bendigo - green fees are $10. Prospective club members (beginners, new to the sport), are also welcome to join us on playing days. One of our friendly members will provide basic tuition and a club mallet and get you playing, free of charge.
Where
Our historic clubhouse and lawns in Barnard Street are currently being upgraded! New lawns, irrigation, landscaping and a carpark are being constructed thanks to generous State Government funding. While the major upgrade works are underway, Bendigo Croquet Club is temporarily located at 126 Mitchell Street, Bendigo. 126 Mitchell Street is the former Victorian Rail Institute (VRI) lawn bowls club located next to the Bendigo train station in the Bendigo City Centre. We have two high-quality (near) full sized A-courts at our temporary Mitchell Street home. Three-hour parking is available in the adjacent shopping centre carpark. We are sharing the lovely old lawn bowls clubhouse and lawns with the Let's Chat Park charity group. On our regular playing days and times we have exclusive use of the facility.
Private Bookings
Private bookings are welcome starting at $15/per person for a short croquet tutorial followed by competitive and fun play. All equipment and court setup is provided. Please provide plenty of notice so that volunteer helpers can be arranged. Contact us by email via bendigocroquetclub@gmail.com to let us know your group numbers and proposed date/s. We will get back to you as soon as we can.
School Groups
Our school groups program is temporarily on hold while we are in our temporary location. At our home location on Barnard street (where we have been since 1904) a number of secondary schools bring their classes (incl. junior school and secondary school PE and alternative programs) for tuition throughout the year. We are a signatory to Croquet Australia's Child Safeguarding Policy and Croquet Victoria's Child Safe Code of Conduct and Commitment to Safeguarding Children and Young People. Any issues contact Child Safety Officer, Brian Loughran 0488283465. We will return to providing classes for junior and secondary school students when we return to Barnard Street (our home) in 2026/27.
